Flight Review · KVNY
A flight review shaped around your flying.
Refresh your knowledge, aircraft handling and aeronautical decision making with an instructor at Van Nuys Airport. The review is based on your recent experience and the aircraft you plan to fly.
Purpose and requirements
A structured review—not a checkride.
A Flight Review under 14 CFR §61.56 includes at least one hour of ground training and one hour of flight training, unless an applicable exception applies. The review covers current general operating and flight rules along with maneuvers and procedures selected by the instructor for your experience and aircraft.
The goal is to review proficiency, identify areas that deserve more practice and leave with clear next steps. It is not a practical test, does not guarantee a particular outcome, and does not replace separate instrument-currency requirements.
Read 14 CFR §61.56Topics can include
- Current operating rules, airspace, weather and risk management.
- Aircraft systems, performance planning and weight-and-balance considerations.
- Preflight, normal and crosswind operations, stalls, slow flight and emergency procedures as appropriate to the aircraft and pilot.
- Radio communication, airport operations and the local Van Nuys environment.
- A debrief with specific strengths, practice priorities and follow-up recommendations.
Before you schedule
Bring your pilot certificate, logbook and recent flight history. Be ready to discuss the aircraft category and class, how long it has been since you last flew, the kinds of operations you expect to conduct and any areas you want to revisit.
Aircraft, instructor availability, required endorsements and eligibility are confirmed directly. A simulator or another training device is considered only when the applicable rules, device and instructor qualifications allow it.
Plan around your aircraft and experience
Aircraft rental starts at $130 per hour, and flight instruction is $35 per hour. Aircraft and instruction are separate charges; the total depends on the selected aircraft, session length and any additional training. Confirm availability and current terms directly.
